VALUES AND BELIEFS

At Crescent Park, our values and beliefs influence our work. We strive to provide a learning environment founded upon the following principles:

  • That meaningful, early learning experiences for children serve to deepen their desire to learn and to be curious about the world
  • That placing emphasis on the social/emotional health of the child is of primary importance in developing a strong self-image as competent and capable human beings
  • We believe in providing a cozy, safe, nurturing and beautiful classroom environment for young children where they are given the autonomy to explore indoors or outdoors
  • Respect for the family and its value as the child’s first teacher is the cornerstone of our school community. We honor the family by providing a multi-aged learning environment where children grow along side one another in a family-style setting
  • We believe in providing an environment that is rich in emergent literacy and representational art
  • We believe in providing a wealth of open-ended materials in which we can explore with our senses, build and construct, organize and design, and collaborate and share our ideas with others
  • We value honest, respectful, authentic relationships where we can help others and receive help when we need it
  • We value teachers who are professional, well-educated, reflective role models that are committed to making the work of young children meaningful and visible
  • We strive to create a school setting that grows with the child and where collaboration and small group work is meaningful and relevant to their interests and development
  • We believe in providing a rich Pre-K Readiness program for children and families transitioning into Kindergarten
